Looking ahead to October, participants will continue their creative journey by deepening their exploration of identity. Throughout the month, they will engage in activities that encourage self-expression, critical thinking, and connection to broader social issues. By creating three-dimensional identity objects and abstract art pieces, participants will reflect on how personal experiences, emotions, and community shape who they are. These explorations will help them prepare for their final projects, where they’ll showcase their growth and the evolution of their identities.
Our program also includes group discussions, where participants share their insights and learn from one another’s perspectives. This process helps build emotional resilience, self-awareness, and communication skills, all while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. As we look forward to October, participants will connect their identities to broader societal issues. In the upcoming session, they will create posters addressing social challenges that resonate with them, using art as a tool for change. Through these discussions and projects, we’re excited to see how the youth will continue to explore their identities and express their unique perspectives.
One of the highlights of October will be the creation of a collaborative mural, where participants will come together to represent the diversity within their community. This mural will emphasize the role of community in shaping identity and the power of individual contributions in building a collective narrative. Discussions throughout the month will continue to foster emotional resilience, self-awareness, and communication skills, providing participants with a supportive and inclusive environment.
As we move into November, the program will culminate in an Open House and Reflection event, where participants will present their final projects, including visual timelines, personal narratives, and collaborative works. This event will provide an opportunity for the youth to share their artistic process, insights, and personal growth over the course of the program. Through these final reflections, they will articulate how art has empowered them to explore their identities and connect with the world around them.
We are excited to see how the participants will use art to express their unique voices, engage with societal challenges, and celebrate their diverse identities as they prepare for the final showcase in November.
Through art, we’re empowering each teen to explore their identity, express their perspectives, and contribute to meaningful conversations about who they are and how they fit into the larger community.
