We are thrilled to announce a new collaborative initiative between Genesis Centre, Planet Youth, and Antyx: a brand-new community mural! This exciting project aims to foster community, creativity, and collaboration among our youth.
Antyx has a rich history of engaging in mural projects, bringing art and community together. Recently, we transformed a basketball court in the Forest Lawn neighborhood into a vibrant and colorful space. This event, held on an afternoon, saw enthusiastic participation from many community members who contributed their time and energy to create something beautiful. The collective effort and shared joy of creating this mural highlighted the power of art in uniting people and enhancing public spaces.
Additionally, we recently partnered with Cardel Rec South to unveil a permanent display of a 10-week mural project. The youth of Shawnessy designed, outlined, and painted the mural. The process not only allowed these young artists to express themselves on a large scale but also provided them with invaluable experience in collaboration and long-lasting friendships.
Mural projects are a fantastic way to bring communities together, explore art on a grand scale, and allow participants to connect, collaborate, and build long-lasting friendships. These projects offer young artists a unique opportunity to think big and contribute to their community on many different levels. The sense of pride and achievement that comes with completing a mural is palpable, as participants share their work with family and friends and celebrate their collective accomplishment.
In this new mural project, we aim to dig deeper into meaningful soft skills and socio-emotional components. We will explore themes such as diversity, inclusion, belonging, mental health, and creativity. These themes are not only relevant to the artwork itself but also to the personal growth and development of the participants. By engaging in this project, young artists will have the chance to reflect on these important topics, express their perspectives through art, and learn how to work together towards a common goal.
We believe that this project will provide a unique and enriching experience for all participants. It will offer a platform for young people to express themselves, connect with others, and make a lasting impact on their community. The process of creating a mural involves a blend of creativity, technical skills, and teamwork, all of which are valuable for personal and professional development.
Registration is now open for youth aged 12 to 18 on our website. Be part of something impactful, create lasting memories, and contribute to the beauty and spirit of our community. Together, we can make a difference through art and collaboration.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a transformative experience that celebrates creativity, community, and personal growth.
